Dr. Brad Sachs, a nationally known expert on teens, will speak on “The Good Enough Family: Promoting the Parent-Teen Dialogue” at Catonsville High School, Tuesday, March 5, 2008, at 7 PM. The public is invited to this free event, and students and parents are encouraged to attend together. Sponsored by the CHS PTSA, Student Government Association, and the Department of Student Services. 410-646-1360.

Pre-course Reading for English Classes at Catonsville High School 

Students registered for Honors English are required to read the work listed and one novel from the suggested list prior to beginning their English class. Students enrolled in the GT/AP program must read the two required works and one from the suggested list. Standard English students should read one book from the suggested list. Honors and GT/AP students will be tested on their pre-course reading in their English classes; Standard English students will receive extra credit upon completing an assessment on their book.

9th grade- Genres in Literature
Honors- Farenheit 451 (Bradbury)
GT- The Once and Future King (White) and Jurassic Park (Crichton)
Suggested Works: The Bean Trees, Cold Mountain, The Secret Life of Bees, Stones in Water, Little Women

10th grade- World Literature
Honors- Life of Pi
GT- Poisonwood Bible and Leaf Storm (Marquez- Rabassa translation)
